Meet Ashley Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Specialist

Can men do our Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Course? YES! Of course! It's all about helping pregnant women and new mothers in their health and fitness goals and EVERY trainer should have these skills. Men included.

What is your current profession and where are you based?

I am a personal trainer in Perth, Western Australia.

Why is helping pregnant and postpartum women so important to you?

As I witnessed the challenges my wife faced to get back into training after having our two girls, I became more inspired to support other women in the same situation.

Mothers go through so much with pregnancy, birth and still more once bubs arrive, that I felt I could help with the health and fitness aspect of pregnancy and postpartum.

What did you enjoy most about the PregActive Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Course?

The follow-along exercise videos were particularly helpful, especially the core focused videos throughout all stages of pre and postnatal training.

Likewise, the content on postpartum ailments, especially Diastasis Recti and Prolapse, provided further insight to what women go through and how I can best support them as a personal trainer.

What do you plan to do now you are a Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Specialist?

I will be using the knowledge obtained from the course to assist women in returning or starting exercise later in their postpartum journey.

What would you say to a newly pregnant Mama-to-be who is nervous about starting exercise?

You only have to do what feels comfortable to yourself and your baby. It is all about nourishing and strengthening your body, and feeling healthy.

What supportive words would you say to a new postpartum Mother to help her get started with her exercise?

Every postpartum woman's recovery length and obstacles they face are different. It is about acknowledging where you are at, and from there building your body and strength back up slowly to where you feel confident in yourself.

There is no need to rush or compare your journey to others'. This is why one of my business' priorities is to create individualized programs for each client, based on their starting level and their desired outcomes.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

For any fellow male personal trainers that might not think this is an area that interests them, I encourage them to complete this course.

It is important to gain further insight and understanding to areas that might be specific and relevant to future clients, and from my experience, it has made me a better trainer.
