Meet Prenatal and Postnatal Exercise Expert, Sophie!

We love the passion of our Pre/Postnatal Exercise Graduates when they finish our PregActive Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Certification and are ready to start helping pregnant women and new mothers!

Sophie is incredible, a teacher who's already helping kids through 'Little Lifters' and now helping here to help the Mamas too. Read her story:

What is your current profession and where are you based?

I have just opened my own business which is Little Lifters where I provide gross motor/kids bootcamp to our littlest loves in Early Learning Centres, Schools and privately.

In addition to this I am a Qualified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor and Primary School Teacher. I am based in Sorell which is small suburb in Hobart, Tasmania.

Why is helping pregnant and postpartum women so important to you?

I love working with clients at the gym with personal training and group fitness classes and my kids classes, through this I meet a lot of mums and mums to be and I found I was lacking a lot of knowledge around pregnancy and postpartum exercise guidelines etc.

I see a big gap in this area within my local community and wanted to help them and myself

What did you enjoy most about the PregActive Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Course?

Very relevant to my profession and needs. It explained everything well and also gave real life scenarios which helped. The workout guides are amazing to revisit if I need a specific type of exercise for a stage of pregnancy or postpartum.

What do you plan to do now you are a Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Specialist?

Offer 1:1 personal training and a mums class at the gym I work at - also inform mums and mums to be about safe training in pregnancy and how they can still exercise safely for them.

What would you say to a newly pregnant Mama-to-be who is nervous about starting exercise?

Starting exercise is always daunting for anyone at any stage in their life - there a lot of changes going in in your body as a mum to be and this is a great chance to move and exercise and also understand what you’re body is doing and what will benefit what’s to come further in pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

What supportive words would you say to a new postpartum Mother to help her get started with her exercise?

You are creating a life within you, so make sure you look after yours while you do! If you can grow a baby, you can do anything.
